Uploading Your First COI

Upload a Certificate of Insurance and understand the AI analysis results.

Inori uses AI-powered analysis to read Certificates of Insurance, extract coverage data, and check compliance against your project requirements — all within seconds.

Upload a Certificate

  1. Navigate to the compliance record for your vendor (Project > Vendors tab > click the vendor row).
  2. Click the Upload COI button.
  3. Select a file from your computer. Supported formats: PDF, PNG, JPG, and TIFF. Maximum file size: 10 MB.
  4. Click Upload.

Drag and Drop

You can also drag and drop files directly onto the upload area. Multiple files can be uploaded at once — each will be processed as a separate certificate.

Understanding the AI Analysis

After upload, Inori's AI engine processes the certificate in approximately 30 seconds (times may vary based on document complexity). The results page shows:

Extracted Fields

A structured breakdown of everything the AI read from the certificate, including:

  • Insured name and address
  • Certificate holder name and address
  • Coverage types with policy numbers, effective dates, and limits
  • Provisions such as Additional Insured and Waiver of Subrogation

Compliance Check

Each requirement defined in the project is compared against the extracted data. You will see:

  • Pass — The certificate meets or exceeds the requirement.
  • Fail — A specific gap is identified (e.g., "General Liability limit $500,000 is below the required $1,000,000").
  • Needs Review — The AI could not determine compliance with confidence and flagged the item for manual review.

After Analysis

Based on the results, the compliance record transitions automatically:

  • All requirements pass: record moves to Compliant.
  • Any requirement fails: record moves to Non-Compliant.
  • Items flagged for review: record moves to Under Review.
