Evidence of Insurance
Any document that serves as proof that an insurance policy exists and provides specific coverage details, broader than a standard certificate of insurance.
Evidence of insurance is a general term encompassing any documentation that proves insurance coverage is in place. While a certificate of insurance (ACORD 25) is the most common form of evidence, other documents also serve this purpose, including ACORD 27 and ACORD 28 forms for property coverage, binders, declarations pages, and policy endorsements. The specific form of evidence required depends on the coverage type and contractual requirements. Liability coverage is typically evidenced by an ACORD 25, property coverage by an ACORD 28, and workers' compensation by an ACORD 25 with the workers' compensation section completed. In COI compliance, accepting and processing multiple forms of evidence is essential for comprehensive verification. Compliance platforms must be able to parse and extract data from various document formats, not just standard ACORD 25 certificates. Supporting broader evidence types reduces friction in the compliance process and ensures that all coverage lines can be properly verified and tracked.
