ACORD 101 (Additional Remarks Schedule)

A supplemental ACORD form used to provide additional information that does not fit in the standard fields of an ACORD 25 or other certificate forms.

Overview

The ACORD 101 form, titled "Additional Remarks Schedule," is a supplemental page used when the standard fields on an ACORD 25 (or other ACORD certificate) do not provide enough space to document all required information. It is essentially a continuation sheet that extends the Description of Operations field, allowing agents and brokers to include additional details about coverage, endorsements, special conditions, and project-specific language.

How It Works

The ACORD 25 has a limited Description of Operations / Locations / Vehicles field that can only accommodate a few lines of text. Many commercial insurance compliance situations require significantly more information than this field can hold. The ACORD 101 provides the overflow space.

Common information documented on an ACORD 101 includes:

  • Additional insured details: When multiple parties must be named as additional insured, the ACORD 101 lists them all with their specific endorsement references
  • Waiver of subrogation language: Confirmation of waiver of subrogation endorsements for specific certificate holders
  • Primary and noncontributory language: Specific policy language confirming the coverage is primary and noncontributory
  • Project-specific requirements: References to specific contracts, projects, or locations that the certificate covers
  • Endorsement schedules: Lists of relevant endorsements attached to the policies
  • Special conditions: Any contractual insurance language that must be confirmed on the certificate

The ACORD 101 is linked to its parent certificate by referencing the same certificate number and the specific section it supplements. It is not a standalone document — it only has meaning when attached to the corresponding ACORD 25 or other certificate form.

Compliance Relevance

The ACORD 101 is critical in many compliance review scenarios:

  • Complete certificate review: Compliance reviewers must check for attached ACORD 101 pages to ensure they are reviewing all available information, not just the front page of the ACORD 25
  • Additional insured verification: Complex projects with multiple certificate holders often require ACORD 101 pages to list all additional insured parties and their associated endorsement numbers
  • Contractual language confirmation: When a contract requires specific insurance language to appear on the certificate, the ACORD 101 provides the space to include it
  • Automated parsing challenges: OCR and AI-powered certificate reading systems must recognize and parse ACORD 101 pages as part of the complete certificate, not as separate unrelated documents
  • Multi-page certificates: A single vendor may submit an ACORD 25 with one or more ACORD 101 continuation pages. Compliance platforms must associate these pages correctly.

Compliance platforms should handle ACORD 101 forms as integral parts of the parent certificate, ensuring that all information across multiple pages is captured in the compliance review.
